1. New Year Greetings

How did you spend your New Year’s Eve?
Some people enjoy a quiet dinner with family, others travel, and many love joining big countdown events. There are so many ways to welcome the new year.

In Singapore, New Year’s Eve is one of the most exciting times of the year.

2. How People Spend New Year’s Eve in Singapore

Unlike Japan, where people often spend New Year’s quietly at home,
Singapore has more of a festival-style countdown atmosphere.

Common ways to celebrate include:

  • Having dinner with family or friends

  • Drinking at bars or hawker centres while waiting for midnight

  • Attending large-scale countdown events

The city feels lively, open, and full of energy.

3. The Main Event: Marina Bay Sands Countdown Fireworks

When it comes to New Year’s Eve in Singapore,
the most famous event is definitely the Marina Bay Sands countdown fireworks.

Every year, huge crowds gather around Marina Bay to watch the fireworks light up the skyline.
The view, combined with the city lights, is absolutely breathtaking.

If you ever have the chance to spend New Year’s Eve in Singapore,
this is something you should experience at least once.

4. How I Spent New Year’s This Year

I usually watch the Marina Bay Sands fireworks every year, but to be honest…
this year, I felt a little used to it already.

So instead, I did something different.
I spent New Year’s Eve at a hawker centre with friends, drinking and chatting while welcoming the new year in a relaxed way.

It wasn’t flashy, but it felt very Singaporean—and I really enjoyed it.

5. Final Thoughts: Welcoming the New Year in Singapore

  • If it’s your first time, the Marina Bay fireworks are a must

  • Once you’re familiar with the city, a chill countdown at a hawker centre or bar is also great

  • Singapore offers both exciting events and laid-back ways to celebrate

New Year’s in Singapore lets you choose your own style—
big celebrations or a relaxed night with friends.

That’s all for today’s article.
See you again in the next one!
